Information includes date of visit, names and signatures of commissioner, and areas of the hospital visited. Recommendations, including those for safety, orderliness, and cleanliness adopted during meetings are documented. Visitation notes address personal appearance of attendants; sanitary conditions; furniture; maintenance of buildings and grounds; dining and wards; fire prevention; and patient appearance, behavior, treatment, and care.

- These volumes contain contractual agreements between the reformatory managers, inmates, and employers for indentured labor or apprenticeships. Contracts specified the employer must teach a trade, literacy and arithmetic; provide food, clothing, shelter, and, end of the apprenticeship terms. Inmates could not be hired out and the agreement could be not canceled without reformatory's consent. Contracts include agreement date; master's name, address, and occupation; inmate's name, age, case number; the type of trade to be taught; and apprenticeship duration.

- Prior to 1978, the Department of Mental Hygiene was responsible for services to the mentally disabled and mentally ill, and for treatment oversight. It received patient admission lists from public and private treatment facilities throughout the state. This series consists of admission lists from those institutions under jurisdiction of OMRDD (1978-1983) as well as those Department of Mental Hygiene facilities that were of a type that would have come under OMRDD jurisdiction had it existed during that time period (1927-1978).

- This series contains orders, regulations, and bulletins issued by organizations to which the War Transportation Committee was subordinate such as the New York State War Council, the federal Office of Defense Transportation, Office of Defense Health and Welfare Services, Office of Price Administration, and Federal Security Agency. They were used by the committee to guide its efforts in coordinating the conservation of transportation resources. Issues include rationing of fuel and rubber; bus, taxi, and automobile operations; and train regulations.

Summary
- These volumes, kept for the auditing purposes of the New York House of Refuge's Finance Committee and Executive Committee, document the expenses incurred by the Industrial Department. Following the legislative prohibition of prison contract labor, the institution in 1888 effected a major reorganization and expansion of industrial and mechanical trades education. Payments were made to payroll, the Industrial Education Association, and other organizations and private individuals; however, except in the case of payroll, there is no indication of what the payments were for.
