Scope and Content Note
This series consists of correspondence, receipts, depositions and an agreement relating to the purchase of firearms in Europe by the New York State government. The records are the result of a Legislative act authorizing the State government (through the Secretary of State, Comptroller and a Commission of its Board Officers) to purchase through Schuyler, Hartley and Graham, New York City, 24,000 stands of arms in order to equip the State's volunteer militia.
The series consists mostly of correspondence about the purchase between State officials and representatives of Schuyler, Hartley and Graham.
