- These returns provide names and commission dates of militia officers elected by local committees, as well as numbers of troops in militia regiments. Also included are lists of enlisted men, lists of prisoners, minutes of the Provincial Congress concerning election returns, records of arms and ammunition on hand, and incoming correspondence of the Committee of Safety regarding orders carried out. Records are fragile due to burn damage.

- The Military Board was responsible for the initial enrollment and mustering of troops as well as directing the expenditure of funds necessary to supply and equip them. This unbound volume deals with claims filed against the state for expenses incurred in the organization, equipment, and subsistence of troops at the beginning of the Civil War. Essentially this series is a compilation of explanations describing claims against the state as well as listing the amount being claimed.

- This volume documents applications for state bounty monies. Each entry in the register provides date application was received; name; company; regiment; bounty claimed; and remarks. The remarks usually consist of brief statements concerning date of enlistment, desertions, dates of previous bounty payments, or length of service. At the end of each month, the number of applications received and amounts awarded are totaled.

- This volume lists bounty claims of New York State soldiers who served during the Civil War. The volume appears to be a register of bounty claims which for the most part had not yet been paid, and only includes claims of men who served in the 106th through 156th volunteer infantry regiments. Each entry provides the claimant's name, regiment, company, amount due, date paid, and remarks.

- This series contains lists of draftee from Albany induction stations and a history of North Salem during World War II. The history includes brief service records for each man and details home front activities such as salvage collection, war bond drives, blackouts, civil defense, rationing, and Red Cross projects. Albany induction lists contain the name; address; draft board and serial numbers, and induction date. Most inductees were Albany residents; others were from surrounding cities, downstate New York and western Massachusetts.

- This brief series of four pages documents individuals who were assessed fines for delinquent behavior while in the New York State Militia. Fines could be levied against militiamen for a variety of delinquent behaviors, among them: not appearing at a regimental parade or place of rendezvous when summoned; disobeying orders of a superior officer; leaving ranks without permission; neglecting or refusing to obey any order or warrant; and appearing for duty without being properly armed and equipped.
