Scope and Content Note
This is a calendar to part of a series of State Assembly records known as "Assembly Papers" and previously bound into volumes. The calendar covers volumes 5 and 6 and pages 1-90 of volume 8, including records dating from 1774-1814.
Entries for each document are on separate 5" x 8" sheets providing: date of document if known; to whom document was addressed; names of petitioners or other persons involved; summary, sometimes very detailed, of document; number of pages; and volume and page number(s) in the Assembly Papers.
The records calendared include petitions from citizens and Assembly resolutions concerning: land grants, confirmations of titles to land, and other land matters; salt production at Onondaga Salt Springs; expenditures for roads, schools, agriculture; improvements in navigation of Hudson River; payment of debts or other compensation owed by state; construction of fortifications at New York City and organization of the military; and proposed amendments to U.S. constitution regarding qualifications of top federal office-holders.

Custodial History
The calendar was compiled by State Library staff to facilitate access to information in the original records, which suffered burn damage in the State Capitol Fire of 1911.
