- This series contains Indian treaties or deeds of cession and related documents filed by the secretary of state. The native groups involved in the treaties filed in this series were the Oneida, Brothertown, Stockbridge, Cayuga, Mohawk, Seneca, and Onondaga Indians, and the Seven Nations of Canada. The "treaties" generally take the form of a deed of cession from the sachems, chiefs, and warriors of a particular nation or group to the people of the state of New York.

The series also contains financial documents and claims relating to "detached" militia companies that were placed under Federal command during the War of 1812.

Summary
- This series contains mostly warrants of survey but includes also a few unrelated legal documents. Colonial governors ordered surveys of all lands for which settlers applied for purchase. The warrants are the governor's orders to the surveyor general to carry out the survey. They provide name of governor; name of surveyor general; for whom land is to be surveyed; acreage and location of land; and date of warrant. The records suffered some burn damage in the 1911 State Capitol fire.

Summary
- The Onondaga Indian Reservation was established by treaty between the Onondaga Indians and the State of New York in 1788. After various tracts were sold by the Onondagas, they petitioned the state for a re-survey of their reservation. This series consists of field notes of a United State Department of the Interior survey of the Onondaga Indian Reservation executed in 1938 to restore and remark the boundaries of the reservation established by an earlier re-survey executed in 1856.

- This series contains Indian deeds treaties or deeds of cession. Most of the colonial Indian deeds cede lands located in the Mohawk and upper Susquehanna Valley from the native owners to the king of Great Britain. The post-Revolutionary War documents generally take the form of a deed of cession from the sachems, chiefs, and warriors of a particular nation or group to the people of the state of New York.

Summary
- This series consists of purchase certificates of land from the Oneida Indian Reservation. The certificates were returned to the Office of the State Comptroller when the sales were not completed due to non-payment. The certificates are signed by the Surveyor General as seller and include receipts for partial payments. Other information includes lot number, number of acres purchased, date of purchase, amount paid, amount due, subsequent payments and transferences of ownership, and date surrendered.

Data collected is similar to the general population census but does not include voting, citizenship, or militia service.
