Summary
- This series consists of purchase certificates of land from the Oneida Indian Reservation. The certificates were returned to the Office of the State Comptroller when the sales were not completed due to non-payment. The certificates are signed by the Surveyor General as seller and include receipts for partial payments. Other information includes lot number, number of acres purchased, date of purchase, amount paid, amount due, subsequent payments and transferences of ownership, and date surrendered.

Scope and Content Note
This series consists of 35 certificates of purchases of land from the Oneida Indian Reservation in 1840-1841. The sales were apparently never consummated because of nonpayment, and the certificates were returned to the Office of the State Comptroller in 1845. The certificates are signed by the Surveyor General as seller of the land and include receipts (endorsements) for partial payments. Other information includes lot number, number of acres purchased, date of purchase, amount paid, amount due, subsequent payments and transferences of ownership, and date surrendered.

This series was apparently transferred to the Archives from the New York State Library in 1978 but was not identified and accessioned until 2004.
