- This series consists of original census enumeration rolls prepared by the state agent assigned to a given Indian tribal group or reservation for the purpose of identifying those eligible to receive annuity payments from the state. As such, the series serves as the basis for validation of tribal membership and as an important, often the only, source of basic vital statistics for reservation residents and non-residents alike.

This series consists of original census enumeration rolls prepared by the state agent assigned to a given Indian tribal group or reservation; or a record copy prepared by the Department of Social Services or its predecessor agency, from the originals, for the purpose of identifying those eligible to receive annuity payments from the state. As such, the series serves as the basis for validation of tribal membership and as an important, often the only, source of basic vital statistics for reservation residents and non-residents alike.
The census rolls contain the following information: name, sex, date of birth and/or age, and relationship to the head of the household (place of birth and date of death are sometimes included).
