- This series is an outdated partial index to Enrolled Chancery Decrees After 1800. It was superseded by J0064, Index of Enrolled Decrees After 1800. File numbers, therefore, no longer refer to actual enrolled decrees since new file numbers were assigned in the subsequent index. Entries include complainant, defendant, solicitor and decree file date. Entries before 1830 also include the object of the suit and the nature of the decree; this information is not included in J0064, Index of Enrolled Decrees.

In it the plaintiff in error states the "manifest error" found in the record, proceedings, and judgment in a case heard and decided by a lower court and asks that the higher court reverse and annul the judgment.

- This series consists of admiralty claims cases filed within the jurisdiction of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Claims relate to prize cases; seamen's wages and treatment; salvage; evasion of customs regulations; insubordination; attempted mutiny; and passenger assault. Files may contain libels, monitions, claims and answers, interrogatories, depositions, and court orders. Prize cases are most common and include libels, processes, pleadings, court decrees, condemned property sales, bills of cost, muster rolls, ship owner's instructions, invoices of goods laden, and certificates of clearance.

- This series consists of Supreme Court subpoenas ordering the Secretary of State to produce records from his office and summonses served on his staff. Documents identify the case name, location, and type of court session. The subpoenas identify records requested and specify the time and place the records must be delivered. The summonses contain the defendants' names, a copy of the plaintiff's complaint which outlines the reasons for filing suit, and length of time allotted defendants to answer plaintiff's complaint.

- This fragmentary series consists of lists of freeholders qualified to serve as jurors in the trial of issues in the Supreme Court of Judicature, as returned by sheriffs or county clerks. Each list gives the names of freeholders, their places of abode, and their "additions" (occupations or ranks). Most of the lists were compiled and returned for the empanelling of struck juries.

The writ appointed commissioners to depose a witness residing out of state or out of country. Accompanying the writ are interrogatories (questions to the witness) and, occasionally, the witness's deposition (answer to the questions).

- This series consists of writs of attachment, issued under seal of the Supreme Court of Judicature, ordering a sheriff or coroner to attach a person disobeying a court rule and to make him appear to answer for his contempt. Persons subject to attachment included judges, court clerks, attorneys, sheriffs, witnesses, jurors, and other public officers. The writ was most frequently issued after an incumbent or a former sheriff had failed to execute and return a writ of fieri facias.

- This series consists of writs of scire facias, which are orders under seal of the Supreme Court of Judicature commanding a sheriff to summon a defendant (or his heirs or assigns) to appear in court and show cause why execution of a judgment against him should not be levied from his property. The writ of scire facias was often employed when a defendant died before satisfying a judgment.

- This series consists of Register's statements on mortgage foreclosure cases handled by the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor respectively. Each contains totals of bills filed for mortgage foreclosure, decrees issued for sale of mortgaged premises, and sales conducted. Also included is an alphabetical case list enumerating the complainant, defendant, costs allowed by the court and the decree amount awarded. Entries for cases in which a sale actually took place include the property's sale amount and the total costs in the case.
