This series consists of indexes containing names of plaintiffs and defendants in Chancery cases that have case documents in Series J0065, Enrolled Decrees, Filed Parchments and Papers Before 1800. The series has both a plaintiff-defendant index and a defendant-plaintiff index.
Each index entry includes the names of the litigants, one or more alphanumeric document file codes, and the filing date. In the case of multiple plaintiffs or defendants in a case, only the lead party is named in the index.

The GSU microfilm has been digitized, and the images can be accessed online at FamilySearch Affiliate Libraries (including the New York State Archives and New York State Library). The GSU microfilm and digital images are cataloged under the author "New York. Chancery Court (Albany County)," with the title "Index to Court of Chancery records, plaintiff and defendant," microfilm roll number 501159. Microfilm is not available for inter-library loan.
