- Transcripts of dockets of judgments were filed in the office of the clerk of the Supreme Court of Judicature in New York City by the other clerks of the court. Transcripts for the Albany office start 1790; Utica, 1807; Canandaigua (later Geneva), 1829. Each entry includes the name of the party against whom judgment was obtained (usually defendant); name of the party in whose favor judgment was obtained (usually plaintiff); amounts of debt, damages, and costs; date of filing judgment; name of attorney for losing party; and date of satisfaction, if any.

- The engrossed minute books contain the minutes, in fine handwriting, of civil trials and other proceedings in regular terms of the Circuit Court and in additional "sittings" in the city and county of New York. All actions were commenced in the Supreme Court of Judicature and an issue roll was sent to the Circuit Court if a trial was required. Trial minutes include the names of plaintiff and defendant, attorneys, jurors, and witnesses, and may list documents introduced as evidence. The minutes state the amount of money judgment awarded by jury verdict after trial, or by jury inquisition if the defendant defaulted. The minute books also contain entries of motions and orders, fines against non-appearing jurors, and naturalizations of aliens.

- Common rule books contain a record of common rules (or orders) entered by the clerk upon motion by the attorney for the plaintiff or defendant. Rules prior to July 1, 1847, were entered by the clerk of the Supreme Court of Judicature in New York City. Starting July 1, 1847, rules were entered by the clerk of the city and county of New York. Each entry contains the case title, date of rule, and rule granted.

- Volumes in this series index the enrolled decrees of the Court of Chancery that were filed with the Chancery clerks in New York City. The volumes do not index decrees filed in Albany, or decrees of the Vice Chancellors in the eight Chancery Circuits. The four volumes contain essentially the same data, but they were prepared at different times after 1847. Each entry states the last name of the indebted party (usually defendant) and the prevailing party (usually complainant), and the year of the decree. There are many annotations, corrections, and additions in each volume. The first three volumes are manuscript; the fourth is a typescript prepared in 1923.

- This volume contains accounts of fines (money penalties) in the Circuit Court and additional "sittings" of that court, and in the Court of Oyer and Terminer, held in the city and county of New York. Fines were imposed on jurors and constables who failed to appear as summoned, and on persons who were bound by a recognizance to appear to answer a complaint or to testify in a trial. Between 1796 and 1807 there are also entries of fines imposed on persons convicted in the Court of Oyer and Terminer. Each entry states the name of the individual fined, his or her occupation and residence (city ward), and amount of fine. Entries for each term are signed by the court clerk.
