- This series indexes 1,048 birth certificates filed for births that occurred prior to the implementation of statewide registrations of births on January 1, 1881. Delayed certificates were issued for births ranging in date from 1881 back to 1823, but almost all of them document births during the 1870s. Delayed certificates were filed as early as 1900, but most were issued in the late 1930s and early 1940s so that individuals could receive benefits under the Social Security Act of 1935.

- Municipal officials authorized to assess lands for local improvements were required to notify the comptroller about the improvements, and their assessment of any state lands involved. Notifications had to show the assessments' purpose, authorizing law, and the state lands and amounts for which they were assessed. This series consists of assessment notices (a few redemption notices) for local improvements on state lands. Most improvements are in western or central New York and were for street pavings, gradings, or sewer construction.

The ledger records Clinton's production and sale of textiles, woodenware, tin ware, and other items. Most customer accounts consist of prisons, reformatories, almshouses, hospitals, asylums, schools, police, sheriff departments, and other state and local government agencies and institutions. Entries include transaction date; value of sales by type of merchandise and total value of the transaction.

Counties represented include Orange, Jefferson, Dutchess, Montgomery, and Putnam. There are also orders and reports of commissioners of appraisal in the case of Orange County vs. Thaddeus S. Durland and others, concerning a dispute over appraised value of lands to be taken for highway improvement.

- This series consists of certified copies of awards by the Canal Appraisers (through 1883) and by the Board of Claims (1883-1897), and of judgments by the Court of Claims (1897-1953). These awards were made for damages to lands adjacent to state canals. Many such damages were sustained by private persons when their lands were appropriated temporarily or permanently for repairs or enlargement of the Erie Canal, for the so-called $9,000,000 improvement at the turn of the century, and for construction of the Barge Canal system.

- The Commission on Local Government Efficiency and Competitiveness was charged with studying the structure and operations of New York local government; reducing costs and improving the effectiveness of local government operations; and reforming election laws and procedures. The Commission issued its final report, entitled "21st Century Local Government," in April 2008. This series consists of printouts of e-mails received by the commission from 2007-2009.
