- The series consists of an informal, handwritten subject index to laws pertaining to responsibilities of the state comptroller. Laws dating from 1784 to 1915 are referenced. The creation date is unknown, but entries are by several hands, perhaps added over time, and represent a working copy. Subjects are wide-ranging and in keeping with this historically important office. Quite often there is a precis of the legislation with its citation.

- The State Office of General Services (OGS) operated the state's record center storage facility until the establishment of the State Archives in 1978. These forms were completed in response to a statewide survey carried out by OGS in 1975 to determine the total volume of records in state agency custody. This series consists of records series inventories and accompanying records disposition requests, memorandums, background material, and correspondence submitted in response to the OGS survey.

- The series consists of a manual for developing case records of prisoners confined in state prisons or reformatories. The manual was prepared by the Work Projects Administration as part of a technical series of federal guidelines for improving prisoner records in state correctional institutions. Projects to upgrade recordkeeping were recommended to meet the need for better classification of prisoners. Improved data and administration of information about prisoners would allow for better appraisal for treatment programs and parole decisions.

They were based on a 1969 survey of offsite records conducted by State Library staff.

Included are lists of towns to which state publications were delivered; pardons issued and delivered, listing slaves and their owners, other blacks, by name; patents delivered, after recording; receipts by counties of state official standard of long measure, documenting that some counties did not pick up their official yardstick until thirty years after issue date; and deeds, mortgages, releases, quit claims, and other instruments received for recording and delivered.

- In 1950, a survey was conducted of inactive records filed with the Department of Audit and Control with only a 5 per cent sample preserved. Historical records from the sample were inadvertently taken for disposal to Quebec, Canada; about one-third of which were recovered. This series consists of inventory reports; correspondence; articles and other materials documenting this survey and the resulting disposition of those records. Most material pertains to records recovery activities.

The log shows a type and year of communicable disease outbreak, apparent reel numbers, and date sent for filming.
