Scope and Content Note
The series consists of an informal, handwritten subject index to laws pertaining to responsibilities of the state comptroller. Laws dating from 1784 to 1915 are referenced. The creation date is unknown, but entries are by several hands, perhaps added over time, and represent a working copy. Duplicate pages 87-106 at the end of the series form a partial index of towns by county (New York to Rockland) separate from the bulk of the index. Following is an undated list of "leading decisions" giving citation and name of parties to the court action. There is no indication of the scope or unifying theme of the list. The final page holds black-and-white portrait photographs of three unidentified men. The photos are neither dated nor attributed.
