Summary
- This single manuscript map shows the town of Brooklyn in the county of Kings as it was surveyed by Sidney Herbert and Robert Tolford in 1834. This survey was carried out at the request and under the direction of town supervisor Jeremiah Johnson. The survey was apparently done in anticipation of the incorporation of the City of Brooklyn which occurred by legislation passed in April of 1834. This map clearly shows all nine wards.

- These records were generated because of a claim by John Jacob Astor to lands forfeited by Roger Morris and wife Mary Philipse. Included are abstracts of sales of land by the commissioners of forfeitures giving descriptions of lands; acreage; purchaser's names; purchase date and price paid. Also included is a report prepared for the surveyor general providing information on certain lots in Morris' estate.

- This series consists of an oversize atlas containing eleven maps depicting lot boundaries and types within the Onondaga Salt Springs Reservation. The maps appear to have been produced circa 1849 by Deputy Surveyor John Randell, Jr., or to have been produced based on surveying data collected by him in 1822 and 1843.

- This series consists of ten field books documenting surveys for proposed state roads. Two of the field books contain data on a state road from Lake Erie to the Hudson River that was proposed and surveyed, but never built. It is unknown whether the other field books refer to any roads that were actually built. The notes very occasionally include brief descriptions of soil conditions, terrain, and establishments on route.

- This series consists of vouchers documenting sale of lands by the state. For the most part, monies raised by these sales were then deposited into either the state's general or school funds. The top half of the form was completed the Surveyor General's Office and normally provides the date of the transaction, a description of the lands sold, and the amount. The bottom half of the form was completed the State Treasurer's Office, signed by a State Treasurer Official and indicates from whom the funds were received, the amount, and date.

- The Holland Land Company was an association of Dutch banks and other investors speculating in American land during the late 1700s. The company purchased over five million acres in central and western New York and Pennsylvania. This series consists of a portfolio of deeds (conveyances of real property) for individual lots in the Holland Purchase. Deeds are signed duplicate originals, and contain maps of lots conveyed.

- Supervisors of towns bounded by the patents dividing line requested a survey be done to establish town boundaries. This series consists of a report containing survey course, marks and measurements; surveyors' certifications of accuracy; letters from town supervisors agreeing with the location of the boundary line as described in the survey; and letters from town supervisors stating that they would not assume responsibility for their share of the survey's cost.

- This series contains a map drawn by engineer John Randel, Jr. showing the Hudson River from Troy south to New Baltimore. The map includes river depth; adjacent cities; some street names and buildings; nearby waterways; and route of a proposed canal alongside part of the river. Also included is a certification by Surveyor General Simeon DeWitt, that the maps were made according to an 1819 law and that the maps accompanied a report made to the state legislature.
