- This volume contains the 1845 population schedules for all the Indian reservations in New York (except the reservations on Long Island). Census schedules are present for the following reservations or groups: Oneida, Onondaga, Tuscarora, Buffalo [Creek], Seneca of Cattaraugus, Cayuga of Cattaraugus, Seneca of Allegany, Tonawanda, and St. Regis [Mohawk]. Data collected is similar to the general population census but does not include voting, citizenship, or militia service.

Summary
- A Convention of Delegates of the State of New York adopted five amendments to the Constitution of 1777 on October 27, 1801. The amendments dealt with reorganization of the Senate and Assembly and powers of the Council of Appointment. The engrossed text of the amendments is signed by Aaron Burr, president, and James Van Ingen and Joseph Constant, Secretaries of the Convention. The Constitution of 1777 contained no provision for amendment.

- This series contains determinations of the State Board of Canvassers of individuals elected to offices statewide and in multi-county districts. There are also transcripts of statements of local inspectors of elections of the number of votes cast for candidates in the Senate elections of 1799 and 1800, and in a special election for member of the U.S. House of Representatives in 1799.

- This series consists of the journal of the proceedings of the convention to consider ratification of the proposed United States Constitution. Included are minutes of resolutions and votes by delegates on the proposed Constitution, the text of which is included in printed form. At the end of the proceedings are the signatures of the president of the convention, George Clinton, and of the other delegates.

- This series maps the official boundary line between the states of Connecticut and New York. Maps begin at the northwest corner of Connecticut and end through Long Island Sound at the western boundary of Rhode Island. They depict the boundary line and the area on both sides for several hundred feet. The maps also show municipalities; land conditions (cultivated, orchard, meadow); natural and man-made features (rivers, ponds, highways, roads); civic structures (churches, tennis courts); and property owners and house locations.

- The State Constitution of 1821 was framed and adopted by a Convention of Delegates which met in Albany from August 28 to November 10, 1821. It was ratified by the voters at a special election held January 15-17, 1822, and took effect December 31, 1822. It is attested by Daniel D. Tompkins, president, and signatures of the delegates appear at the end of the document.

Summary
- This copy of the proposed United States Constitution and of the ratification instrument was engrossed by order of the Poughkeepsie Convention, July 26, 1788. It consists of seven folio parchment sheets bearing the text of the Constitution and of the "Declaration of Rights, Ratification of the Constitution and Explanatory Amendments" adopted by the Convention on July 25. It also contains an appeal to other states to call a second convention.

- The first volume in this series was used to log correspondence received each business day by the Secretary of State's office. Most correspondence involves requests for certification of deeds, satisfaction pieces, mortgages, powers of attorney, and appointments. The second volume was used to log instruments (legal documents such as deeds, bonds, leases, assignments of morgages, certificates of incorporation, and affidavits) received by the secretary's office.

- Transcriptions of mortgages securing loans from the U.S. Deposit Fund and a state loan fund

Summary
- These volumes contain typewritten transcripts of mortgages of real property to county commissioners appointed to loan monies of the state pursuant to acts of the Legislature passed in 1792 and 1837. The source of the monies loaned under the latter act was the United States Deposit Fund. Except for a few early mortgages in the first volume, the rest of the mortgages transcribed in these volumes related to loans from the U.S. Deposit Fund. The transcripts were examined and compared with the original documents for accuracy by the Second Deputy Secretary of State. The location of the original mortgages is unknown.

- The proposed Constitution of 1867-68 was framed and adopted by a Convention held in Albany from June 4, 1867 to February 28, 1868. The Constitution was later rejected by the voters, except for the Judiciary article, on November 2, 1869. The text is attested by the signatures of W.A. Wheeler, president, and Luther Caldwell, secretary of the Convention.
