- This single leaf from a bound volume contains summary information on prisoners discharged from the State Prison of the City of New York (Newgate Prison) in 1828 with last names beginning with the letter "C" through "E" only. The inspectors of the prison maintained this record in compliance with Chapter 30 of the Laws of 1796, which required them to submit an annual report to the legislature.

- This series consists of record cards which summarize the background and prison disciplinary record of inmates of Clinton Correctional Facility (known earlier as Clinton Prison). Most cards include a front-facing and profile photograph of the inmate. Inmate numbers extend from 12879 (inmate received in 1914) to 39999 (inmate received in 1964), with gaps. These records were maintained pursuant to a law of 1929 requiring a daily record to be kept of punishments inflicted on prisoners and of complaints by prisoners.

- The series consists of brief memorandums from physicians to prison authorities usually recommending appropriate medical care or end of need for medical care for incarcerated patients that the physicians have examined. Many memorandums recommend that an incarcerated individual be mustered out of the military squad because of a medical problem. Memorandums include date, addressee, consecutive number, last name of the incarcerated individual, and physicians name and title. The name of physician is often omitted.
