Administrative History
Craig Colony for Epileptics was established in 1894 to offer residential, educational, occupational, and medical facilities for epileptics. It remained an institution for epileptics until 1967.
Scope and Content Note
These memoranda cover a variety of topics related to administrative duties and oversight. Subjects include personnel and patient issues, escapes, food, facilities, housing, equipment, recreation, treatment policies and procedures, and patient care. General announcements and bulletins are included as well as memoranda addressed to specific staff members or groups.
Also included are some notes taken from medical journals regarding research on the treatment and causes of epilepsy. A few lists of patients who have had relatives with epilepsy, patients who have committed suicide, and patients whose autopsies have revealed brain tumors are also included.
