Craig Colony for Epileptics was established in 1894 to offer residential, educational, occupational, and medical facilities for epileptics. It remained an institution for epileptics until 1967.
Scope and Content Note
Photographs in this series depict patient and employee housing, patient activities and recreation, treatment facilities, view of grounds and surrounding areas, livestock and gardens, staff and administrators, and other aspects of center life. Many photographs in this series are mounted on cardboard backings. Images vary in size with the majority being approximately 11x14 inches to 16x20 inches including mount.

B1898-13: These photographs were originally acquired by the Minnesota Historical Society. They were subsequently transferred to the New York State Archives in 1981.

Photographs depicting patients are restricted in accordance with Mental Hygiene Law, Section 33.13, relating to confidentiality of clinical records. Access is permitted under certain conditions upon approval by the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.
