Summary
- This series consists of correspondence, memoranda, reports, pamphlets, clippings, and salary schedules generated or received by the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner. These files are fragmentary and non-comprehensive in nature. Subjects include: psychological services to schools; activities of the Motion Picture Division; educational films and audio-visual materials published guides; the Governor's Committee on Library Aid; and salary proposals for state teachers' colleges, district superintendents, New York State School for the Blind, and New York State Education Department employees.

Administrative History
The position of Executive Assistant was added to the New York State Commissioner of Education's staff in 1945. The first occupant of the office was appointed by the Board of Regents.
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of correspondence, memoranda, reports, pamphlets, clippings, and salary schedules generated or received by the Executive Assistant to the Commissioner. Unlike the Commissioner's Subject Files, these files are fragmentary and non-comprehensive in nature. The files relate to the following subjects: psychological services to schools; activities of the Motion Picture Division; published guides to educational films and audio-visual materials; and salary proposals for state teachers' colleges, district superintendents, New York State School for the Blind, and New York State Education Department employees. A considerable portion of the collection relates to the Governor's Committee on Library Aid, including drafts of reports, press releases, data tables of each district's library aid, and drafts of legislation to amend the process of prividing state aid to libraries.
