- The series consists of evidence gathered during the Task Force investigation of alleged Army dumping of radioactive materials into the Love Canal. The evidence was given at public hearings, in interviews conducted by Task Force investigators, and in interviews conducted by the Army during its own investigation. Evidence includes eyewitness accounts of Army dumping and contamination in the Love Canal and details related to procedures for production, storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials at government facilities.

- These are transcripts of testimony taken by the Commission for Investigation of Workmen's Compensation Law Administration at public hearings held in 1943-1944, meant to reveal factors that prevented workmen's compensation from reaching intended beneficiaries. The transcripts contain testimony from individuals involved in or having close knowledge of compensation cases or compensation administration. Witnesses gave testimony concerning inadequacies, irregularities, and fraud in the administration of the Workmen's Compensation Law, including inadequate medical treatment, kickbacks, bribes, and other illegal or unethical activities.

- In 1975, Governor Hugh Carey invoked Section 6 of the Executive Law (Moreland Act), and by Executive Order #2 he appointed Morris B. Abram as commissioner to investigate state management of non-governmental nursing homes or facilities that received direct or indirect federal, state, or local aid, or provided care or services to any individual receiving such aid. The series consists of typescript copies of the commission's various reports, copies of public and executive session hearing testimony, and press clipping files.

The committee had proposed a bill that would, in effect, have outlawed professional boxing in New York State. The stated intent of the hearings was to help the committee decide whether or not the bill or a more refined bill would be submitted to the Legislature or whether the abolition of boxing would be recommended.

- The commission conferred with members of the Joint Legislative Committee to Study the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law and studied transcripts of its public hearings to gather information and opinions on needed legislative reforms. This series consists of the Joint Legislative Committee's hearing transcripts. The Joint Legislative Committee, established in 1960, conducted these hearings as part of its charge to study the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law and the rules and regulations of the State Liquor Authority. Most hearings focused on the advisability of raising the minimum drinking age from 18 to 21.

Issues include work week length; payment during breaks, layovers, and peak periods of ridership; time off for jury duty; salary increases; uniform allowances; physical examinations; vacation allowances; pensions overtime; and overtime pay.
