Most records relate to the "Thompson Commission's" regulation of transportation companies rather than utility companies. The majority pertain to issues involved in constructing the New York City rapid transit system including its design, financing, letting contracts, supervising building, and auditing companies involved in projects. Other records focus on methods of issuing stock and providing security for shareholders in financing large-scale public projects.

The bulk of the series deals with the awarding of contracts and progress of work on these contracts.

- Land was sold when the owner failed to pay taxes for two years. If the owner paid the taxes within one year after the sale of the land for taxes, it reverted to that person's ownership. This series consists of information about applications to redeem land sold for failure to pay taxes. Information includes county and relevant land; date; and details of filing and actions in the case (e.g. hearings, payments, and correspondence). Related correspondence is filed with the proceedings.

- The series relates to the law allowing a less expensive generic drug to be substituted for a brand name drug.
