- These files include correspondence, memoranda, notes, reports, clippings, legislative bills, and photographs concerning the participation of New York State residents in World War I. Also included are war histories from other states. The files were collected by State Historian, James Sullivan, in response to a 1919 resolution of the Senate and Assembly authorizing him to "collect, collate, compile, edit and prepare for publication sufficient materials, statistics and data for a history of the State of New York in the war.

- This series consists of correspondence, memoranda, itineraries, reports, news releases, photographs, promotional brochures and pamphlets concerning public relations activities conducted by the Thruway Authority. The files mostly relate to opening ceremonies for each newly completed section of the Thruway, and inspection tours conducted for groups interested in the Thruway. From its establishment in 1950, the Authority exercised an active public relations program designed to distribute information to the public and to promote support for and use of the Thruway.

The photographs appear to have been gathered for a report on treatment of the mentally ill in other states, which was prepared by the New York State Commissioner in Lunacy.

This site, along with the property of the Mohansic State Hospital, became the Mohansic State Lake Preservation.

Most of the images reveal the routine activities that the governors' photographers were assigned to photograph. Records tend to be arranged by gubernatorial administration for the following governors: Thomas E. Dewey, W. Averell Harriman, Nelson A. Rockefeller, Malcolm Wilson, Hugh L. Carey, Mario M. Cuomo, and Eliot Spitzer.

- These annual reports prepared by various project engineers summarize work done by State prison inmates on construction and maintenance projects on State, county, and town roads during the period 1916 to 1921. Often attached to the report are photos depicting roads, bridge construction, and inmates from Clinton, Great Meadow, and Auburn prisoners at work or in a work camp.

Many of the images in accretion B0701-03 are duplicates of photographs contained in B0701-85, but some later photographs show partially completed first and second floor levels of the Capitol. The series also contains images taken by photographer Thomas Fuller and a landscape plan by Frederick Law Olmsted of the East Park (1898).

- Approximately 1000 aerial photographs depict cities and villages in downstate counties from Dutchess County southward, including Long Island. There are also a a few from Ontario County. These may have been taken as part of a reclassification study initiated in 1963 to determine which highways should be under state, county, or local jurisdiction and to prepare a new State Highway System Map for highway route selection or design purposes.
