This series consists of a ten-page report by John L. Stainthorpe, containing detailed summaries of interviews with National Guard personnel and medical workers at the retaking of Attica Correctional Facility in 1971. The interviews focused on the subject of medical treatment of inmates after the event. Interviewees appear to have volunteered to talk, rather than be systematically selected. The series consists of brief memorandums from physicians to prison authorities usually recommending appropriate medical care or end of need for medical care for incarcerated patients that the physicians have examined. Many memorandums recommend that an incarcerated individual be mustered out of the military squad because of a medical problem. Memorandums include date, addressee, consecutive number, last name of the incarcerated individual, and physicians name and title. The name of physician is often omitted.
