Information includes the incarcerated individual's name; number; date admitted; age; intelligence score; general adaptability score; personality traits; handedness; language used in home; birthplace; parents' birthplace; education; years in U.S.; mental and educational ages; I.Q. and other test results; and impressions.

The two determinate or definite registers contain the same information except there is an added notation citing number of days of jail time.

Information includes class, consecutive and register numbers, name, crime, sentence, dates received and sentenced, county, court, former trade or occupation; employment status; if could read or write; if married; age, color, weight, height, habits, nativity, and data on previous incarcerations (crimes, which prison/jail; duration, discharge dates, and how and when discharged). Bulks of the records are from 1876-1891. Gaps exist.

These registers for those discharged from Auburn Prison include: inmate name and number; age at entrance; color; nativity; crime; when received and discharged; term; number of previous convictions; married or single; habits; weight when received and discharged; health when received and discharged; and how discharged. The last volume omits weight when discharged and adds mental age; time served; and date convicted.
