- This series contains bank deposits for salt duties paid to the state by private companies. The State entered into leasing agreements with companies who wished to manufacture salt at the Onondaga Salt Springs. The returns were submitted by the superintendent of the Onondaga Salt Springs to the Comptroller. Information recorded includes the date, day the weekends, the bank into which money was deposited, and weekly totals.

- This series consists of monthly statements of monies received by state hospitals submitted to the Comptroller. Each statement lists date, payor, purpose, and amount. Most of the entries are for maintenance fees charged to inmates. Also included is a statement of money received for sale of uniform materials manufactured at the hospital and a sworn statement by the Steward attesting to the accuracy of the figures.

- This is a transcription of the original receipt book listing land grants issued by Gerrit Smith in 1846, when he made a gift of 3,000 deeds to African Americans and poor white people. The book lists the following information relating to these grants: county name; township; tract; lot; quarter of lot; acres; and remarks (i.e. names of grantees). This volume was apparently retained by the Comptroller due to his involvement in land grants and land taxing in New York State.

Summary
- Municipal officials authorized to assess lands for local improvements were required to notify the comptroller about the improvements, and their assessment of any state lands involved. Notifications had to show the assessments' purpose, authorizing law, and the state lands and amounts for which they were assessed. This series consists of assessment notices (a few redemption notices) for local improvements on state lands. Most improvements are in western or central New York and were for street pavings, gradings, or sewer construction.

- The stub books in this series document the issuance of revenue bonds as loans for payment of volunteers in the Civil War. Bonds were issued and redeemable in amounts varying from $1,000 to $10,000, pursuant to Chapters 56 and 325 of the Laws of 1865 and Chapter 209 of the Laws of 1866. Each stub generally provides number of certificate, amount of loan, name of bondholder, date of loan, and signature of comptroller's agent.
