- These volumes were used to record books loaned to teachers by the State Teachers' Library. This library was established in 1895 in the Department of Public Instruction to loan books by mail to teachers located in rural parts of the State. Entries provide name and address of borrower; name of person recommending the borrower; teacher's license type, dates of its issuance and expiration; identification numbers of books loaned (but not titles); and dates of loans.

- The Washington's Birthday Celebration Commission was a temporary state commission established to cooperate with the federal government in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of George Washington. The bulk of the series consists of reports of the state commission and a variety of pamphlets, magazine articles, illustrations, and newspaper clippings about George Washington. Also included are scores of letters to the state commission from citizens from around New York who were born on February 22nd.

The agricultural program was part of the "instruction in husbandry and the arts of civilization" that the school provided to resident Indian children. Expenditure journals itemize each purchase or loss by farm department (e.g., poultry, dairy, fruits, garden, field crops) and account (e.g., equipment, home products used, profit and loss, labor employees).

- This series consists of fragmentary correspondence sent by local school officials to the secretary of state in his capacity as ex officio superintendent of common schools. Most correspondence is relates to requests and advertisements printed in the "District School Journal." Other items include a letter concerning an Onondaga Indian Reservation school, a report on schools in Oneida County, and an anecdotal memoir of a schoolmaster. These records were partially burned in the 1911 and may be restricted.
