This unpublished manuscript was prepared by ecclesiastical historian Edward T. Corwin and sent after his death in 1914 to A.J.F. Van Laer, Archivist and Dutch translator with the State Library.
Scope and Content Note
The manuscript consists of two parts. Part I, "Minutes of all Denominations in the Middle Colonies, before the year 1800," is an alphabetical list of clergy giving their denomination, location, dates of birth and death (when known) and of residence in each community, and frequently a citation to a biographical sketch. Part II, "Churches of All Denominations in the Middle Colonies, before the Year 1800," lists churches alphabetically by community, giving their denomination, year established (if known), and the names and dates of pastors. The states or colonies included in this manuscript are New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia.
