This series contains correspondence, memoranda, financial records, ledger books, and reports which detail the state and local level operations of the War Council's Committee on Child Care, Development and Protection in organizing and supervising the state's child care facilities. Individual child care centers, their activities, and operations are documented in this series. In addition, a great deal of demographic information is found on the children and families who participated in child care programs.

The files include manager's field notes, local advisory committee files, and fire detection files. Records contain information on visits to various day care facilities, evaluations of employees at these centers, operations within the facilities, and the installation of fire detection equipment in these facilities.

This series consists of applications for public assistance in the form of day care and children's educational services to enable parents to work in agriculture. Information includes name of day care facility desired; name, address, social security number, birth date, and sex of children requiring services; name of caretaker relative; past history of public assistance; average family net weekly income; if receiving any other services; and basis of eligibility of applicant.
