Administrative History
This series relates to the Department of Agriculture and Markets activities under the responsibility of the New York State Interdepartmental Committee on Farm and Food Processing.
The Department of Agriculture and Markets administers and supervises the Child Care Program for centers for children from infancy to fourteen years of age while their parents are working in the fields. The centers were operated by the New York State Growers' and Processors' Association, and supervised by Ann N. George, the Department's Migrant Child Care Supervisor. The child care centers operate under permits issued by the Department of Social Services.
Scope and Content Note
The files include Manager's Field Notes, local advisory committee files, and fire detection files.
Subseries 1, Manager's Field Notes: These notes record visits to different day care center localities and subsequent evaluations. Evaluations consist of remarks regarding enrollment, staff, and overall operation of the centers.
Subseries 2, Local Advisory Committee Files: Files for various day care centers include visits of members of the Advisory Board, minutes of meetings, and correspondence concerning establishment of the committees.
Subseries 3, Fire Detection Files: Files contain records of installations of fire detection equipment in day care centers in the form of correspondence, bills, receipts, memoranda, and fire-saftey reports.
