- The published version of the Balloting Book contains documents and lists relating to the allotment of bounty lands in the Military Tract in central New York and includes. names of soldiers by regiment with location and acreage of grant and date of patent. Also provided are lists of officers and soldiers by unit; of lots in each township with acreage; and of Canadian and Nova Scotian Refugees entitled to land grants with lot numbers assigned to them.

- This series consists of records of land grants by letters patent for military service. Grants were made to individuals holding land bounty rights originally issued to commissioned officers and private soldiers who served in New York Continental regiments during the Revolutionary War. Series also includes records of land grants to demobilize British officers and private soldiers who had served in America during the Seven Years' War.

Summary
- This series consists of various types of printed forms, reports, incoming correspondence, lists of men who were mustered into the service of the United States government, and an assortment of printed material submitted by local officials to the Bureau of Military Statistics between 1863 and 1868. The records were initially compiled pursuant to Chapter 113, Laws of 1863 which required the Bureau of Military Statistics, in addition to other duties, to "collect and preserve...an account of the aid afforded by the several towns and counties of this state." In 1865 (Chapter 690), the Legislature further specified the type of information which the bureau was to collect.

- This series consists of printed material collected by the Bureau of Military Statistics dealing with a variety of topics, including procedures to collect bounty payments, soldiers' relief funds, presidential politics, the duties of inspectors of elections, materials relating to the State of New Jersey during the Civil War, and the thanksgiving proclamation issued by Governor Horatio Seymour in November 1863. These printed materials were most likely collected by the bureau while trying to collect anything related to the Civil War.

- This series consists of bound volumes describing types of claims filed by Civil War veterans and actions taken by both the federal and state government. The claims pertain mainly to overdue pension and bounty monies but are also for commutations of rations and back pay. Each register provides claimant's name and rank; company and regiment; dates of enlistment and discharge; amount of claim; actions taken by the agency; and certification that the claimant has received the money and/or related papers.

- This volume records names of United States Colored Troops who filed claims against the United States for back pay and bounties for services during the Civil War. Each entry provides the following information: claim number; name; rank; company; regiment; date of enlistment; date discharged; and date claim was filed. Some entries provide the authorization by which the claimant was discharged and a notation whether the claim was settled or rejected. If the claim was settled, the amount is usually provided.

Summary
- This series consists of the original engrossed (or final) letters patent and military patents, which were transcribed pursuant to Chapter 13 of the Laws of 1786. That law states that these volumes were "by various accidents so injured that a frequent Recourse to them may render them illegible." The transcriptions were inserted into the books of Letters Patent (Series 12943) and Military Patents (Series A0447). In addition to recorded patents, the first two volumes also contain records of confirmations of deeds dating prior to the English conquest of New Netherland in 1664, commissions and appointments of civil and military officers, naturalizations and denizations of non-British subjects, and a few Indian deeds.

It also contains a list of claims filed in response to the Revolution Claims Act of February 3, 1853 (U.S. 10 Stat. 154) for eight New York counties.

- Revolutionary War soldiers and individuals who provided material support during the war were eligible to receive bounty lands from the state. Assembly ad hoc and later standing committees reviewed petitions for bounty lands and made recommendations upon which the Assembly acted. The reports in this series contain committee recommendations regarding such petitions and Assembly resolutions approving recommended action.

- This volume documents applications for state bounty monies. Each entry in the register provides date application was received; name; company; regiment; bounty claimed; and remarks. The remarks usually consist of brief statements concerning date of enlistment, desertions, dates of previous bounty payments, or length of service.
