It also contains a list of claims filed in response to the Revolution Claims Act of February 3, 1853 (U.S. 10 Stat. 154) for eight New York counties.

Information for each record includes patient name; admission and discharge dates; gender; age; civil condition; nativity; occupation; cause and form of insanity and if inherited; cause of death; education; and name and address of next of kin. Photographs of the patients are sometimes present as are notes on the patient's condition; activities; transfers; and autopsy reports. Records are restricted.

This series consists of inventories of equipment on wards at Willard State Hospital. Items inventoried include office furniture and equipment; recreational, janitorial, and medical equipment; and hospital furniture, apparatus, and equipment. Each item notes quantity, condition, and number requested in the next budget period. Also included for each ward is a brief census of patients, with numbers of male and female patients. Patients are listed as tidy, untidy, and destructive. Numbers of patients are provided in three categories: bedridden, ambulatory, and wheelchair-bound.

This series consists of registers listing auctioneers who posted bond and returned taxes to the State Comptroller. State law required auctioneers to file every three months "a just and true account" of all wares and goods sold at public auction so that the treasurer could determine what duties should be levied. The auctioneers are listed by county with each entry recording name, residence (city or town), date of execution of bond, and the dates of receipts of the quarterly returns.

Dates for the indexes overlap as information was carried over from earlier to later volumes.

Volunteers fingerprint identification correspondence files

Summary

This series contains materials relating to the procedures and operation of the fingerprint identification program. Because civil defense was considered a national security issue, civil defense volunteers were required to be fingerprinted. The Office of Civilian Protection screened for criminals, and fingerprint identification was conducted by the New York State Department of Correction's Division of Identification. The series includes correspondence, monthly reports, and memoranda.

This series contains newspaper clippings documenting the activities of the Office of Civilian Protection (OCP) in its efforts to instruct people on civil defense procedures to be used in the event of enemy attack.
