Grants were made to individuals holding land bounty rights originally issued to commissioned officers and private soldiers who served in New York Continental regiments during the Revolutionary War. Series also includes records of land grants to demobilize British officers and private soldiers who had served in America during the Seven Years' War.

- This series consists of wills, grants of administration, and (prior to ca. 1710) inventories and accounts of decedent estates. These documents were recorded and maintained by New York Colony's Prerogative Court and then by the State Court of Probates. Many of the wills were made by widows; several executors were women; some wills bequeathed slaves; and Dutch wills sometimes had English translations. Volumes before 1700 also include other records such as governor, council, and criminal proceedings; marriage licenses, and coroner's inquests.

- Commissioners from New York, New Jersey, and Nova Scotia held hearings to settle a Rhode Island-Massachusetts boundary dispute. Records of the commission's proceedings include: summaries of each party's argument; questions and testimony of surveyors, residents of the disputed areas, and other witnesses; and copies of documentary evidence produced by the parties, such as Indian treaties, acts of the Rhode Island General Assembly, and letters patent. The records were damaged in the 1911 State Capitol fire.
