New York State Office of General Services Bureau of Land Management Location Index to Colonial Patents

This series consists of a microfilm copy of a card index, by geographic location, of colonial letters patent. The series acts as a partial index to letters patent in Record Series 12943, Letters Patent and Series A0480, Indexes and Translations of Dutch Patents.

The cards list the location of the patent; date of patent; book and page number of the letters patent; and the name of the grantee. Also included is a description of the land being conveyed which can include the name of the tract; acreage; names of adjoining landowners; current location of the land; outbuildings; and other similar descriptive information.

Microfilmed at the Office of General Services in 1973 by the Genealogical Society of Utah, microfilm reels 947096 and 947107 item 1. Cataloged by GSU as part of a collection called "Patents of the State of New York, 1649-1912." GSU microfilm has been digitized by FamilySearch.
