This series consists of records related to the creation of New York State's Historic Tree Register. Files pertaining to the register include applications, correspondence, press releases, acceptance and rejection letters, and descriptions of the trees. Also included are State Botanist records from the 1910s, correspondence regarding the planting of Moon Trees (trees grown from seeds taken into orbit around the Moon) in the 1970s, and surveys of large and historical trees in the state from the 1960s-1980s.

The Conservation Commission survey books record arboreal resources of the Adirondack Park in 1926-1936. It provides data about increases and death rates in tree species. The books contain photographs and maps as well as information about vegetation, insect damage, and size of trees.

This series consists of microfilmed copies of the Saratoga Tree Nursery's genetic histories of trees grown at the nursery and subsequently transplanted in other locations. These records document the trees initially grown as seedlings at the nursery and subsequently distributed to public and private lands and landowners for conservation planting.
