These records include the notifications and/or senate confirmations of gubernatorial appointments and index cards that show name of appointee; address; title appointed to; date of nomination; date of confirmation; date notification sent to Department of State; name of person succeeded; and other notes of legal citations and previous appointments.

- This series consists of filings by supreme court justices for each judicial district designating court terms and assigning judges. Also included are changes in the date of a court session, a presiding judge, or the extension of a court term or appointment of an extraordinary term. Information includes the locations, dates, and names of presiding judges for each type of court term appointed. After 1905, the governor's certificates of designation of judges were filed with the assignments of judges.

Summary
- This series consists of commissions utilized by northern states in commissioning general officers during the Civil War. The commissions are blank except for signatures of appropriate state officials (i.e., adjutant-general or governor) and the state seal. The commissions were collected by the Bureau of Military Statistics in 1865. The chief of the bureau, in his first annual report, announced that it would be the bureau's intention to seek for "every fact relating to the rebellion."

- These blotters served as a preliminary record of the governor's actions and decisions. These records were kept pursuant to Laws of 1858, Chapter 64, which required the governor to record in books all applications made to him for appointments, pardons, commutations of sentences, or other gubernatorial actions, and to keep on file the original documentation relating to each application. The permanent record of these activities is found in Series A0607, Journals of Governor's Actions and Decisions.

- This volume lists appointments of civil and military officers of the State of New York. It was prepared as an index to the first volume of the minutes of the Council of Appointment, which was destroyed in the Capitol fire of 1911. It provides the page number in the destroyed volume where the full citation was located, the name of the appointee, office, and date. Therefore, this surviving index volume actually acts as a record of appointments made by the council between 1777 and 1786.

- This fragmentary series is comprised of documents removed from, or never filed into, other series of governors records. Much of the series consists of routine appointment records, including letters recommending or opposing appointments; letters of application for positions; letters tendering resignations from positions; and certificates of commission.
