Scope and Content Note
Executive Chamber staff maintained these records as a central file of photocopies of press releases announcing the governor's appointment or nomination of persons to various councils, committees, task forces, commissions, boards, panels, and other state positions. Each press release provides: name of appointee or nominee; reason for establishment of commission, board, position, etc.; length of term; expiration date; name of person replaced (if applicable); brief summary of appointee's background; date; and name of governor's press secretary.
Appointments and nominations are for such positions as: State University of New York Board of Trustees; Public Employment Relations Board; Executive Director, Council on the Arts; Temporary State Commission on Restoration of the Capitol; Special Advisor for Economic Affairs; and New York State Law Revision Commission.
13686-94A: This accretion announces appointments of Governor Cuomo for 1985-1986.
13686-07: This accretion consists of press releases announcing nominations and appointments to committees, boards, commissions, and directorships and commissionerships of state agencies; appointment processing forms; copies of confirmations by the Senate; and lists of nominations sent to the Senate. The records were generated during the administrations of Governors Mario Cuomo and George Pataki.
13686-08: This accretion consists of press releases announcing appointments and accompanying letters of congratulations from Governor W. Averell Harriman. It is comprised of "last minute" appointments made while the legislature was not in session, and nominations and recess appointments which were sent to the Senate with copies of press releases announcing the nominations, and brief biographical sketches of the nominees.
13686-13: This accretion consists of press releases announcing nominations of appointments and reappointments by Governor Herbert H. Lehman for 1933 and 1936.

Acquisition Information
13686-08: This accretion was a gift to Syracuse University from Governor Harriman in 1959. It was later transferred to the New York State Archives in 2006, and accessioned in January 2008.
