Summary
This series consists of registration forms completed by researchers using the research room of the New York State Archives and the Manuscripts and Special Collections of the New York State Library. Records reflect the fact that returning researchers are required to complete a new registration form each calendar year. Forms contain data that is considered exempt from disclosure (unwanted invasion of personal privacy) under the Freedom of Information Law (Public Officers Law Art. 6).

The New York State Archives acquires and preserves state government archival records; provides records management services and training to state agencies and local governments; and promotes preservation and access to historical records statewide. These records consist of correspondence, reports, budget materials, fiscal and personnel records, publications, legislative materials, and policy and planning documents created by the State Archivist for setting policy, developing programs, and overseeing operations for the State Archives.
