Agreements modifying original contract are attached. Contracts for goods or services such as food or clothing includes date; name of supplier; goods supplied; and price.

- This series contains minutes of the House of Refuge's Acting Committee, later Executive Committee. Minutes include discussions of maintenance, finances, education, employment, and other matters and also contain resolutions; lists of bills presented for approval; and reports of committees of the Managers. Routine inmate census data includes number of males, females, whites, and blacks; total number of inmates in each division; number discharged; and starting at mid-19th century, number indentured and in hospital.

- The dispensary record, tracking the health and medical treatment of inmates, was a source the physician's monthly and annual reports. Included are: inmate number; division; inmate name; admission date; diagnosis/physical condition; treatment; name of doctor (rarely); occasional remarks (such as the inmate is to see the doctor again or to see another doctor); and discharge date or other disposition (e.g. to isolation ward, to hospital).

- This series consists of transcripts of one inmate's incoming correspondence. Since the institution's superintendent held the originals; it is unlikely that the inmate received the letters. The letters which discuss his and other youths' activities may have been used to help make a parole decision and/or to monitor the inmate's associations once on parole. Subjects include crimes committed or planned and/or arrests of and legal proceedings against youths; parties; drinking; sexual encounters and the inmate's chances of being released.
