- This volume contains entries of writs sealed by and issued out of the Supreme Court of Judicature of the Province of New York. Each entry gives the names of parties to the cause, the type of writ, the form of action under common law, and the name of the attorney to whom the writ was issued. Every type of writ is included. Writs of capias ad respondendum, fieri facias, and capias ad satisfaciendum are the most common.

- This series consists of three documents, all relating to a writ of certiorari (not included) issued from the Supreme Court of Judicature to an unspecified court in Ulster County. These documents include a letter from John Sudam of Kingston requesting that the Supreme Court of Judicature hear an argument on the writ of certiorari, which affected title to the Rochester Patent in an undeclared way; a copy of letters patent for the town of Rochester; and a copy of a deed from trustees of town of Rochester to Cornelius Hoornbeck et al., 1728.

- This series consists of original writs which ordered a sheriff to summon or attach a defendant to appear in court. In the early nineteenth century, the original writ was used primarily in actions where the defendant was a fictitious person, i.e. a corporation, which could not be arrested on a writ of capias. All the documents in this series concern promissory notes given by banks; the plaintiff is the creditor or his assignee.

Summary
- An insolvent debtor could with consent of creditors assign his property to an assignee (trustee), who sold it to pay the creditors. The assignment consists of two parts: first, a summary of the insolvent debtor's petition for relief, the notice to creditors of the pending assignment, and the judge's direction that an assignment be made; second, the debtor's assignment of his real and personal property to an assignee. Accompanying the assignment is the judge's order discharging the debtor from debts contracted prior to the date of the assignment.

Transcripts for the Albany office start 1790; Utica, 1807; Canandaigua (later Geneva), 1829. Each entry includes the name of the party against whom judgment was obtained (usually defendant); name of the party in whose favor judgment was obtained (usually plaintiff); amounts of debt, damages, and costs; date of filing judgment; name of attorney for losing party; and date of satisfaction, if any.
