Forms contain geographical information about where the discovery was made, as well as descriptions of the mineral vein. Some notices, despite nominally being about the discovery of gold or silver, list other minerals as well.

- This volume lists appointments of civil and military officers of the State of New York. It was prepared as an index to the first volume of the minutes of the Council of Appointment, which was destroyed in the Capitol fire of 1911. It provides the page number in the destroyed volume where the full citation was located, the name of the appointee, office, and date. Therefore, this surviving index volume actually acts as a record of appointments made by the council between 1777 and 1786.

- This series consists of fragmentary correspondence sent by local school officials to the secretary of state in his capacity as ex officio superintendent of common schools. Most correspondence is relates to requests and advertisements printed in the "District School Journal." Other items include a letter concerning an Onondaga Indian Reservation school, a report on schools in Oneida County, and an anecdotal memoir of a schoolmaster. These records were partially burned in the 1911 and may be restricted.

Summary
- The text of the Constitution is engrossed on parchment. At the end are the signatures of the officers and delegates of the Convention. Accompanying the text are resolutions of the Convention, and an address by the delegates to the people of the state recommending the new Constitution to the people. This constitution abolished all remnants of feudal practice and oligarchical government and provided for all white men 21 or older to vote whether they owned property or not.

- This series contains Indian deeds treaties or deeds of cession. Most of the colonial Indian deeds cede lands located in the Mohawk and upper Susquehanna Valley from the native owners to the king of Great Britain. The post-Revolutionary War documents generally take the form of a deed of cession from the sachems, chiefs, and warriors of a particular nation or group to the people of the state of New York.

An alphabetical index to grantees and grantors is provided for each deed book. The back of the volume contains an index to mortgages to the State ("State Mortgages") recorded by the Secretary of State during the period 1807-1842, encompassing Series A0477, Mortage Registers 1-3. An alphabetical index to mortgagors is provided for each mortgage register.

- This series consists of the original engrossed (or final) letters patent and military patents, which were transcribed pursuant to Chapter 13 of the Laws of 1786. That law states that these volumes were "by various accidents so injured that a frequent Recourse to them may render them illegible." The transcriptions were inserted into the books of Letters Patent (Series 12943) and Military Patents (Series A0447). In addition to recorded patents, the first two volumes also contain records of confirmations of deeds dating prior to the English conquest of New Netherland in 1664, commissions and appointments of civil and military officers, naturalizations and denizations of non-British subjects, and a few Indian deeds.
