- This series consists of the annual reports of Injunction Masters on the accounts of all court appointed guardians, committees, and receivers in their circuits. These reports were originally filled with the Chancellor and appropriate Vice Chancellor pursuant to court rule 156. The reports are in narrative form and contain the following information for each account: whether it was kept correctly; whether there was any waste or inappropriate use of the funds; and whether funds were properly invested and secured.

Most cases involved incompetency (i.e., lunatics, infants, drunkards); administration of estates; and insolvent corporate bodies (i.e., churches, banks, railroads). Files include petitions; reports; testimony transcripts; copies of orders; affidavits; inquisitions; bonds for performance of duties; property inventories; documentary evidence and exhibits. The files do not contain decrees. Cases often contain detailed information on the background, behavior, and financial state of individuals or corporations.

The rules of the court required the Master involved in a mortgage foreclosure case to file the mortgages on all properties sold under a decree or order of the Chancellor with the Register or Assistant Register. Each entry in this series contains the names of mortgagor and mortgagee and the date of filing.

- The power of the Chancellor or Vice Chancellor to appoint committees or guardians for idiots, lunatics, or insolvent corporations is derived from English precedent. This power was extended to the appointment of guardians for infants by Chapter 106 of the Laws of 1815 and to the appointment of committees for habitual drunkards by Chapter 109 of the Laws of 1821. This series is an alphabetical listing of receivers, committees, and guardians appointed by the Vice Chancellor.

- Notices of pending equity suits ("lis pendens") affecting title to real property were filed in the New York County Clerk's Office. Suits were brought in the Court of Chancery, Court of Equity (1st Circuit) (1823-1829), and Court of Chancery (1st Circuit) (1830-1847). Most notices concern foreclosure of a mortgage and typically include names of parties to the suit, purpose of the suit, an abstract of the terms and conditions of the mortgage, a description of the mortgaged property, and the names of any defendants owning equity of redemption in the mortgage.

- This series consists of docket books recording final decrees issued by the Vice Chancellor at the request of any party involved in a case. The New York Revised Statutes of 1829 required the Clerks of various Chancery Circuits to maintain such a record and dictated its format. Information recorded includes name of the party against whom the decree was rendered; his county and place of residence; his title; trade or profession; amount of damage, debt, or cash decreed; date and time of docketing; names of all parties involved in the case; and when (if) decree was reversed, discharged, or vacated.

The volume does not index final orders in non-adversarial cases commenced by petition. Nor does it index other filed parchments and papers found in series J0065.
