- This series is an index by name of complainant to the enrolled decrees in Series J0065, New York State Court of Chancery Decrees and Papers Before 1800, 1684-1800. Each entry in this volume contains the name of complainant and defendant along with a file number. The majority of the decrees indexed were issued between 1787 and 1799. Along with another volume not yet recovered, the two volumes originally provided a complete index to documents in that series. Each entry in this volume contains the name of complainant and defendant along with a file number. The majority of the decrees indexed were issued between 1787 and 1799. The volume does not index final orders in non-adversarial cases commenced by petition. Nor does it index other filed parchments and papers found in series J0065.

Custodial History
The Court of Appeals placed these records on deposit at the Historical Documents Collection, Queens College, from 1973 to 1982.
The WPA Historical Records Survey inventory of pre-1847 court records at the Court of Appeals (compiled in 1939) indicates there was a second volume in J0066 which the State Archives never received. The missing volume was titled "Chancery Index to Pleadings."
