- This series consists of records filed in cases handled by the Chancellor or by the Vice Chancellor of the 1st Circuit without resort to an enrolled decree (i.e., through dismissal, a court order, an agreement between the parties, etc.). Files do not often contain information on the court's final determination of cases. For cases before 1830, this information appears in Series J0059, Chancery Minutes, 1781-1829; for later cases, it appears in either Series J0049, Register's Minutes of Decrees, 1830-1847 or Series J0046, Register's Minutes of Common Orders, 1830-1847.

Information recorded includes name of party against whom decree was rendered; his county and place of residence; his title, trade, or profession; amount of damages, debt, or cost decreed; date and time of docketing; name of all parties involved in the case; and when (if) decree was discharged, reversed, or vacated.

The decrees include those appointing court officers, establishing court rules, and providing relief to petitioners and complainants. Special orders generally include the name of the requester; the reason for issuing the order; the substance of the order; and occasionally the particulars of the case.

- This series consists of one volume of handwritten forms to be used as models for various types of orders, decrees, and writs issued by the Court of Chancery. A law of 1803 allowed the Court to determine and change the form of all orders, decrees, and process it issued. The elimination of or changes in a form is noted through annotations. These annotations often cite the date and the court rule mandating the change.

Some cards, pertaining to divorce cases, cannot be attributed to a circuit. Cards generally list defendant and a cross-reference to a file or case number. Some cards list plaintiff; type of action; file date and names of solicitor/counselor. 5th Circuit cases pertain almost solely to naturalizations.

- The laws of 1830 incorporated the New York Life Insurance and Trust Company and stipulated that the Court of Chancery could appoint this institution as a guardian for infants whose estates yielded an annual income exceeding $100. The court used the Trust Company as a depository for the monies of infants and for other purposes. This series consists of the accounts of infants under the care of a court appointed guardian with the Trust Company.
