Two of the field books contain data on a state road from Lake Erie to the Hudson River that was proposed and surveyed, but never built. - Approximately 1000 aerial photographs depict cities and villages in downstate counties from Dutchess County southward, including Long Island. There are also a a few from Ontario County. These may have been taken as part of a reclassification study initiated in 1963 to determine which highways should be under state, county, or local jurisdiction and to prepare a new State Highway System Map for highway route selection or design purposes.
