- The first constitution of the State of New York was adopted by the Convention of Representatives of the State of New York at Kingston on April 20, 1777. This draft contains numerous strikeouts, additions, and corrections. At the end are the signatures of Leonard Gansevoort, President Pro Temp., and a certificate by J.V.N. Yates, Secretary of State, dated August 30, 1821, acknowledging receipt of the manuscript by John McKesson. Following is a letter of McKesson, noting sections were missing.

- This series consists of certified transcripts of election returns submitted to the secretary of state by the Kings County Clerk. The transcripts were taken from the official canvasses of the Kings County Board of Canvassers and include tallies of votes cast for each candidate for various state and county offices. The returns also document the vote on a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would allow the governor to appoint a second division of the court of appeals.

- The letter books consist of handwritten and typewritten copies of outgoing correspondence sent by the New York Secretary of State. The letters deal with various subjects, including the publication and dissemination of state laws; applications for land grants; resolutions of the Commissioners of the Land Office; state censuses of 1835 and 1905; and elections. Many of the letters are partially faded, and are therefore difficult to read.

Summary
- These are commonly known as "Dongan's Laws." The first chapter of the laws is the "Charter of Liberties and Privileges" which was passed by the assembly (first New York legislature) on October 17, 1683. Through these laws the English Colonial Governor, Colonel Thomas Dongan, a Catholic, extended freedom of religion and other important rights to the colony. This provision was included in substance in Section 38 of the Constitution of 1777.

- The series consists of maps produced by the Adirondack Park Agency for the Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan of 1973. The maps consist of a printed base map of each county (sometimes done in sections) prepared by the Office of Planning Services, with an attached plastic film overlay in colors representing the various land use classifications. Additionally, wilderness areas and "primitive areas" are represented.

- Described as "Original Minutes" in the 1852 published catalogue of the State Library, these minutes are rough drafts which were then transcribed into Series B1870, Minutes, which remains the official record. The practice of retaining "Original Minutes" was probably discontinued in 1798. This volume was badly burned in the Capitol fire of 1911.
