- This series consists of satisfaction pieces, which are an acknowledgment by a winning party that a judgment in his favor has been satisfied. The acknowledgment is signed by the winning party in a cause (or his attorney) and acknowledged before a judge or commissioner of deeds. The series includes a few powers of attorney and certificates of satisfaction by the clerk of the Supreme Court. The Utica satisfaction pieces for 1846-1847 are missing.

- This series is an index by name of complainant to the enrolled decrees in Series J0065, New York State Court of Chancery Decrees and Papers Before 1800, 1684-1800. Each entry in this volume contains the name of complainant and defendant along with a file number. The majority of the decrees indexed were issued between 1787 and 1799. The volume does not index final orders in non-adversarial cases commenced by petition. Nor does it index other filed parchments and papers found in series J0065.

It gives the names of the defendant and plaintiff; the name, occupation or rank, and residence of the bail (two persons are named, but generally one is fictitious--"John Doe" or "Richard Roe"); and the type of common law action. While this series includes some bail pieces for Albany and Utica, the bulk are found in related series J0096 and J0098.

- These four small books list the names of attorneys who have appointed agents, the names of their agents, and dates of appointment. The books overlap in date and contents and contain many strikeouts. Agents were authorized to be appointed by rules of the court adopted in January term, 1799, and August term, 1809.

- This series consists of appointments of agents, filed by solicitors, with the Clerk of the 2nd Chancery Circuit. Each appointment contains the name of the agent, date of appointment, place of residence, and the signature of the appointing solicitor. The rule of the court required every solicitor in chancery to appoint in writing an agent in every city or town where the Register, Assistant Register, and Chancery Circuit Clerks maintained offices.

- After 1686 the royal governor possessed final jurisdiction in probate matters. The provincial secretary or his deputy served as the governor's delegate or "surrogate" and presided over what was called the Prerogative Court. This series consists of letters that were issued by authority of the royal governor in his capacity as judge of Prerogative Court of Probates. Each letter designates an administrator and contains the name and residence of the decedent.

- This series consists of original writs (often called writs of summons) issued under seal of the Supreme Court, ordering a sheriff to summon a defendant to appear in court on a given day. Many of the actions involve promissory notes given by banking corporations, but there are also cases involving railroads, churches, schools, and manufacturing and insurance companies.

- The special bail piece is a memorandum filed with the court stating that the defendant has been delivered to bail. There are few bail pieces after 1831 because of the liberalization of bail requirements by the Revised Statutes of 1829 and because bail pieces were now customarily included in the judgment rolls.

- This series contains abstracts of attorneys' accounts with the clerk of the Supreme Court at Albany. To the left of each attorney's name is a consecutive number referring to account books which are no longer extant. In columns are entered balances due from the attorneys and occasional entries of payments. There are also notes of accounts sent to the county treasurers for collection and of notices sent to the attorneys reminding them of balances due.

- The recognizance roll is a record of the undertaking of bail, made before a justice of the Supreme Court of Judicature. The roll contains the same information as is found in the plaintiff's declaration, followed by a statement of the obligation of the bail. The recognizance roll was the formal record upon which a plaintiff could bring an action against the defendant's bail.

- This series contains common rules for interlocutory or final judgments when a defendant failed to enter a plea to the plaintiff's declaration and therefore was in default. The rules (or orders) were made on motion of the plaintiff's attorney. Most grant the plaintiff an interlocutory judgment and direct a county clerk to assess and report the damages due. Each entry gives the title of the cause, the rule granting the plaintiff interlocutory or final judgment, and the amount of award.
