This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible websites of the Office of Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 Education, which was created in 2010, and its predecessor entity, the Office of Elementary, Middle, Secondary and Continuing Education. Researchers should note that prior to mid-2008, attempts to copy the Office of Elementary, Middle, Secondary and Continuing Education site were not successful.
B2275-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of Elementary, Middle, Secondary and Continuing Education website produced on October 11, 2008, several months after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains information about the office's history, mission, and organizational structure, New York State School Report Cards (1998-2007), Reports on the Educational Status of State Schools (1999-2008), the office's strategic plan (2000), information about the No Child Left Behind Act (2008), and directories of school district superintendents and charter schools, Also present are state learning standards/core curricula for elementary, middle, and secondary students in arts, math, science and English language arts (2008) and student and teacher resources for each standard.
Additional content includes a listing of frequently requested information by students, parents, school administrators and teachers, including information about school safety, schools in need of improvement (2007-2008), how to obtain a General Equivalency Diploma, and non-public schools. Also present are student data collection forms and software (2008), grant applications (2005-2008), information about education requirements, exams, and assessments, including examination schedules (2009), copies of Regents exams (1998-2008), and alternative assessment criteria. Information about adult literacy and workforce development programs and General Educational Development examinations is also included.
