Scope and Content Note
This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of the Office of State Review, which is part of the New York State Education Department. Researchers should note that this site was not captured in 2014 or 2015.
B2177-07: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of State Review site produced on March 23, 2007, shortly after Governor George E. Pataki (1995-2006) left office. It contains information about the office's history and mission, an overview of the process by which parents or a board of education can appeal the decision of an impartial hearing officer regarding a student with an educational disability, and appeal forms and instructions for completing the forms. Also present are the decisions of the Office of State Review (1990-2007), which are indexed by year and by topic, the regulations governing the office's work, and a frequently asked questions section.
B2177-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of State Review site produced on May 10, 2008, shortly after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). Most of the information in this copy is included in the March 23, 2007 copy of the site, but this copy contains additional decisions of the Office of State Review (1990-2008).
B2177-11: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of State Review website produced on January 14, 2011, shortly after Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. Most of the information in this copy is also present in older copies, but this copy contains additional decisions of the Office of State Review (1990-2010) and updated regulations (2008) governing the office's work.
B2177-20: This accretion consists of a copy of the Office of State Review site produced on March 24, 2020, during the third term of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo (2011-2021). Most of the information in this copy is included in older copies, but this copy contains newer decisions of the Office of State Review (2019) and updated regulations (2017) governing the office's work.
Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of web archiving technology, the decisions issued by the Office of State Review between 1990-2018 could not be captured in early 2020. Researchers should also note that accessing the 2019 decisions is a two-step process: click first on the summary description of the decision and then on the large, blank white box that opens immediately below the summary description.
