This series contains carbon copies of outgoing letters sent by General Inspector J. Nelson Tubbs. Letters are mostly administrative in nature, and almost entirely relate to the subject of the Erie and Barge Canals. Correspondence regarding payment vouchers, supplies, and instructions to canal superintendents make up the bulk of the volumes. Many copies are faded, some to the point of illegibility.
