Scope and Content Note
Each report in this volume gives information concerning: values of site, buildings, furniture, library, and equipment; teachers (numbers in normal, academic, intermediate, and primary departments); number of other employees; pupils (number in each department); average daily attendance in each department; average age of pupils in normal department at time of entering; number of graduates from normal department during year and since establishment of school; and receipts and payments.
Beginning in 1920, the report format changes and some reports include additional information on class size, number and length of teaching periods, entrance requirements, and practice teaching and class observation. There are also some separate reports for high school (academic) departments at the normal schools. In addition to other information, these reports give statistics on the number of pupils, aggregate and average daily attendance, number of graduates and their entrance into institutions of higher education, and number of teachers. These reports were filed under the authority granted by Section 58 of the Education Law as consolidated in 1910, allowing the Board of Regents or Commissioner of Education to require reports from any institution or school under the educational supervision of the State.
